Hi Lovelies,

I’ve been neglecting the blog. I know I have. I really don’t want to, but for some reason I feel like it’s managed to turn into a personal diary about my bad neighbors. After today, I swear I’ll only mention them on special occasions. Like yesterday, when their dog ran into my yard and started viciously growling and barking at me and forcing me to be stuck in my car until they came and got it. When I said I was tired of it being off leash and running the neighborhood, I was met with the reply, “*insert expletive*, I’ll get rid of it if it bites someone.” How refreshing. Something tells me that it’s only a matter of time.

So onto the garden! It’s winter and it’s cold – are you surprised? There’s nothing much to report other than the fact that the anemones are still blooming in the hoophouse and that when the temps hit 8F, most of the “hardy” annuals died. I guess that just goes to show that you should never trust any information that you find on the internet. The casualties are as follows – kale, sweet peas, outside anemones, baby’s breath, ammi majus, godetia, calendula, and scabiosa have all be completely wiped out by the cold. The remaining survivors in the yard (with some damage) are – bachelor’s buttons, love-in-a-mist, agrostemma, poppies, and larkspur. I’ll be keeping you posted on whether or not anything changes come spring, but I’ll definitely be ordering more seed packages for spring sowing.

Now that the windows in my house are shaking because of whatever song is playing outside – I thought I’d go ahead and fill you in on what’s been going on YouTube. I’m really focused on growing things on the channel and there have been quite a few upcycling and sewing DIYs posted. I think I’m going to solely reserve the blog-space for flower growing for now – who knows if that will change in the future! If you’re interested, be sure to head over and check it out!

I think that’s about it! Is there anything growing in your garden? Tell me all about it in the comments? What are you most excited to start growing in the spring?! Hope you’re having a great day, much love!

Wonderful pictures.! Wonderful shots.! 🍁
Thanks!
You’re welcome frescutky.! 🍁
Hard to tell from the side alone, but looks like either an “assassin bug” or “kissing bug” (note the long proboscis): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reduviidae.
Assassin bugs are insect predators — good for the garden. http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/chagas/gen_info/vectors/confuse.html
Kissing bugs are blood suckers and can transmit Chagas disease. http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/chagas/gen_info/vectors/
I’m sure it’s the bad one! That’s how things go around here. Lol.
Talking about your neighbours is entertaining! For the readers, obviously, not for you… Brings a contrast to the flowers which makes for good reading! Write about whatever you like.
Is that what your anemones look like now? Wow. Gorgeous. A-hole neighbors. You should find a place in the country. That kind of excitement you don’t need.
I actually think it is healthy to vent about neighbors and it gives me reason to shake my head and say OMG !!! I have rosebuds blooming and the fragrance is so sweet… and the milkweed has vibrant colors !!! Your photos are awesome…
Ready to start my tomatoes! One of my favs. 😊
I enjoyed your photos!
Beautiful garden. I’ve had your neighbors too. They had three unleashed dogs. Call the police to make a report. Call the county too. Horrible to have to treat neighbors that way however it seems they know a bite in inevitable and dont care. No apology even. Call to report it to the police. No sense waiting till someone gets bit. When they get a visit from the police maybe they will leash their dog or learn how to control it. People like that shouldn’t own pets.i love animals which is why I never let mine out without me. I don’t want them bothering anyone so that I could be forced to give it away which would break my heart.i think she doesn’t care too much for her animal . Doesn’t sound like it to me. You take awesome photos. Beautiful garden!
Thanks so much for the comment and for stopping by 🙂 Luckily, some of my other neighbors have also been quite annoyed and taken some action 🙂 🙂
That dog being allowed to enter your property makes me very angry
