Early summer arrangements from the cut flower garden are always among my favorites. The hardy annual flowers are usually starting to finish blooming, and the summer annuals are just getting started. This period of bloom overlap allows for some really beautiful flower vases. Let’s take a look at this mega pink one that I made recently. 
First, I needed to grab some larkspur. The larkspur is in full bloom right now. I can’t remember the name of the variety that I planted last fall, but it’s very lovely. The pink flowers within the mix are especially interesting. Many of the darker pink blooms have variegated petals. So pretty!
To this arrangement, I also added in some zinnias that have just started to bloom. These are the ‘Zinderella lilac’ variety. These are technically supposed to be the “scabiosa” type. Most of them look pretty normal. We’ll see if they become more interesting as the season progresses.
I also added in a few odds and ends like some feverfew, mint, and the remaining chantilly pink snapdragons. I really, really love the mix of colors and textures in this arrangement.
