Though the scheduling of these posts generally runs about a month behind, I can’t help but eagerly share the news that the ranunculus have started blooming! In this post, we’ll take a quick look at some of the new-to-me varieties that I’m growing this year.
I bought the ‘Cafe Picotee’ ranunculus from Longfield Gardens. I wan’t sure if I’d like them, but the colors have proven to be so interesting. Most of the flowers look as pictured above – a nice blend of yellow and a reddish-purple.
However, a couple plants have produced interesting variations, such as those pictured above. This one doesn’t have any yellow or red at all. Rather, it’s a totally gorgeous pink/purple picotee. I wish I could grow an entire row of these beauties.
Next, we have the white/purple picotee ranunculus. However, I do think the technical name for them is Biano Striato ranunculus. Of all the plants, these are doing best, with an absolutely profusion of blooms. I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure that I would like these – but they’re so elegant and sophisticated looking!
There’s my favorite! Elegance salmon, which I had to special order from Onings with the help of some friends. I can’t even begin to explain how beautiful these ranunculus truly are. If I could only grow one type, I’d pick this one every single time.
