The weather has finally started to cool, and the dahlias have officially started to bloom like crazy! I’ll admit that I’ve really neglected the dahlias this season. Next time around, I’m really hoping to have access to more growing space – but who knows. Anyhow, let’s take a look at some of the other dahlias that are blooming in the cut flower garden.
The plant above is labelled ‘Hilltop Lost Treasure’ dahlia. Though I’m normally not a fan of this particular flower shape, the color is so gorgeous. I love the bright pink tones with purple undersides.
Next, is the ‘Gingeroo’ dahlia. All of the photos that I’ve seen of Gingeroo show it as something which is very orange. However, the ones in my yard are a really pretty coral color. I was so pleasantly surprised by this. I guess it goes to show that you can’t always trust the pictures in the online catalog.
Another favorite from this season is the ‘Good Golly Miss Molly’ dahlia. I’ve really been enjoying watching the bees work in the dahlias since the weather has cool. As you can see, Good Golly Miss Molly dahlia is pure white with gorgeous bright purple edging around ruffled petals.
This bucket of gorgeous dinnerplate dahlias was picked from the same plant. Unfortunately, the identity of this dahlia remains a mystery. When I ordered it online, it was marked as ‘Bracken Sarah’. I’m fairly confident that this isn’t the case. Either way, I’ve absolutely fallen in love with these glowing orange tones.
Last, but not least, is ‘Alpen Parfait’ dahlia. I’m not sure why no one else is talking about this dahlia – but it is STUNNING! I’m calling it now – this will be the next ‘big thing’ in dahlias.
Hi, just wondering where you found Alpen Parfait. I only see it from one seller and am hoping to find a back up in case it sells out. 🙂
Thanks!
