The Changing Beauty of BJ’s Dusty Rose Dahlia

I think one of the main reasons that dahlias really appeal to me is that each variety is so different. It’s absolutely amazing how flowers will differ from one plant to another. It seems that I’m always drawn to order the flowers which are most unique. BJ’s Dusty Rose dahlia is no exception to this, just look at the interesting coloration on those petals!

Even though I really haven’t been growing dahlias very long, BJ’s Dusty Rose dahlia is the only one in my entire garden that has this distinct pattern. It literally looks as if the flower bloom has been “dusted” with a pink powder of sorts. My dad even noticed them, though he said it looked like someone had spray painted them. Lol.

As you can tell by the photos, the color can vary a little bit depending upon the weather and the light. Some of the blooms are more lavender, while most of them are this nice bright pink (once the weather finally cooled down in fall).

Either way, this dahlia is definitely a keeper for my garden! Have you ever grown BJ’s Dusty Rose dahlia before? I would love to hear all about it in the comments below! I hope you’re having a wonderful day!

  1. Hey there,
    I love what you do!
Does it make a great cut flower? Is it prolific and have sturdy stems?
Do the bugs gravitate to this cultivar?
    Thanks

    1. I really, really liked this one. It produced tons of flowers and my stems were great. Didn’t notice any damage with bugs during the season. Thanks! 🙂
