‘Alexis’ Chrysanthemum: Is It Really Pink??

The ‘Alexis’ chrysanthemum is easily one of my absolute favorite florist mums from the garden this year. So much so, that I’m really surprised that I hadn’t seen anyone else online singing its praise as a cut flower. The original King’s Mums listing online says that the color is pink. After growing my own, I’m not certain what color the Alexis chrysanthemum actually is!

When the sun is shining bright, this florist mum definitely has an ever-so-slight pink shade. I most frequently found them to look more lavender. After asking several visitors to the garden, they agreed that my plants looked much more purple. Either way, the color was absolutely gorgeous.

The size and form of these blooms also make it a winner in the cut flower garden. Without any disbudding, this plant produced a profusion of large flowers. I seriously think I’m beginning to develop a new garden obsession – growing chrysanthemums!

This picture, which was taken in the shade, gives a better view of the true color of the Alexis chrysanthemum. Have you ever grown this cultivar before? What did you think? I’d love to know all about your experiences in the comments below. Thank you so much for stopping by!
