‘Nature Mulberry Shades’ Pansy: A True Early Season Beauty

Learning to plant flowers in the fall has changed my garden. I love being able to enjoy very early blooms in the spring, and pansies are no exception to this. Today, I wanted to feature one of my favorite pansies that I’m growing – ‘Nature Mulberry Shades’ pansy. This flower was the very first to bloom this year, with the first bud appearing in the hoop house around February 10th. I was absolutely amazed by these plants’ tolerance to cold.

Now that the weather is a little bit warmer, I am being rewarded with an absolute profusion of blooms. While I have several other varieties of pansy growing in this same flower bed, none of them are performing as well as the Mulberry Shades Mix. For some perspective, I only transplanted about 20 pansy seedlings last year.

I also really like the intense colors of the Mulberry Shades pansy. As you can see, most of them open in a very rich dark purple color. Over time, many of them fade to show these bright orange and yellow tones. The veining on the flower is also very prominent, which I absolutely love! So pretty!

Since the plants just started blooming, the stems are still relatively short. However, I anticipate that that will change as soon as the weather gets a little warmer and the days continue to lengthen. I’ve already made a few small arrangements using daffodils, and I’m happy to say that many of the colors within this mix compliment each other very nicely.

What do you think? Have you ever grown ‘Nature Mulberry Shades’ pansy before? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! Thanks so much for stopping by!
