‘La Vie’ Tulips: A Frustrating Beauty

I’ve grown ‘La Vie’ tulips twice now. Both times, they’ve looked completely different. Last growing season, the flowers were a very bright pink color. This time around, they’re a gorgeous blend of pink, peach, and purple. Both are equally beautiful, but the experience has left to question which variety I received is actually the real ‘La Vie’ tulip.

This year’s ‘La Vie’ tulip opens to a lovely shade of peach and gradually changes to pink over time. While I was completely enamored with the color of this variety, it’s growth habit left a lot to be desired. The stems were very short and weak. Most of the flowers completely flopped over in the garden before I was even able to pick them.

I’ll probably consider growing ‘La Vie’ tulip one last time to see whether my opinion changes. What do you think? Have you ever grown ‘La Vie’ tulip before? If so, I’d love to hear all about your experiences in the comment section below. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog!
