First Time Success: Queen Red Lime Zinnia

It’s not exactly a secret – but, I love zinnias. Over the years, I’ve tried to grow as many varieties that I could get my hands on. The ‘Queen’ series zinnias have certainly been no exception to this rule. After having less than stellar growing seasons before with the Queen Red Lime zinnia, I think I’ve finally grown some really beautiful flowers.

Judging by their appearance, it’s easy to see why zinnias in the Queen series are quite a bit more expensive than the “regular” seeds. Though I realize that the unique color isn’t everyone’s favorite, I find myself constantly drawn to the actual flower structure. The blooms are reliably double, and absolutely gorgeous.

I grew a package of just 25 seeds this year. I found myself taking every bit of extra care to make certain that my tiny zinnia transplants would thrive in a nice sunny spot in my garden.

Have you ever grown Queen Lime Red Zinnias before? If so, I’d love to hear about in the comment below! Thank you so much for stopping by – I hope you’re having a wonderful day!

  1. What do you think accounted for your success this year versus in the past? Thanks! Love your posts. Super informative and helpful.

  2. What did you do differently with these? I usually direct sow zinnia, but I would like to make sure I’m more successful with it.
