In the past, I’ve always struggled to grow calendula. After planting them last fall, I was so happy to see them thriving in this season’s spring garden. One variety, called ‘Greenheart Gold’ was especially impressive.
‘Greenheart Gold’ calendula first opened in a very bright shade or orange-yellow. The flowers were also exceptionally tall, much taller than any other variety that I have ever grown. The flowers were also large and daisy-like; a definitely plus considering their potential for use in the cut flower garden.
As you can see from the photos above, nearly every flower in the bunch was very double. While some of the centers were pure yellow, many of them displayed the open “green” center. Personally, I thought that this characteristic was very beautiful.
Have you ever grown ‘Greenheart Gold’ calendula before? What did you think? I’d love to hear all about your experiences in the comment section below. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit the blog. I sincerely hope that you’re having a wonderful day!
