This growing season has not been a good one for snapdragons in my garden. After getting a very late start, they simply didn’t thrive. While some didn’t get as tall as I had hoped, others completely flopped over during severe thunderstorms. ‘Potomac Lavender’ snapdragons were one in which I was most excited to grow. Every catalog photo that I had seen showed beautiful armloads of light purple flowers.
Imagine my surprise when the collection of snapdragons pictured above began to bloom in my backyard. As you can see, I did manage to cut some of the really beautiful light purple color that I had anticipated. However, there were also a lot of much darker purple colors in the packet.
Has anyone else grown ‘Potomac Lavender’ snapdragon and had a similar experience? Or, did I just get a bad packet of seed? I’d love to hear all about your experiences in the comment section below. Thank you so much for visiting the blog!
I have never successfully grown snapdragon from seed!
