In Bloom: ‘Josephine’ Oriental Lily

If you’ve been following along on the blog for any length of time, you already know that I’m obsessed with pink flowers. There’s something about very pale pink flowers that seem to fit in almost any occasion. For this reason, it should be no surprise that the ‘Josephine’ oriental lilies in the garden have already proven to be one of my favorites this season.

Though I had only planted a package of five bulbs, I was rewarded with huge masses of fragrant flowers. The blooms themselves are the softest tint of pink with brightly colored pollen sacks, but those are best removed as to not make a mess of the petals. Also, important to note that lilies are toxic, so always be careful when kids and pets are concerned.

After bloom, I simply deadheaded the flowers and left the plant in the garden. Hopefully, it will grow much larger next season. Have you ever grown ‘Josephine’ oriental lily before? What did you think? I’d love to hear all about your experiences in the comment section below. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit the blog!
