Easy to Grow, Direct Sow Summer Annual Flowers – Ornamental Gardening
Hi Lovelies! It’s that time of the year, again! I’m over-the-moon, insanely excited to start growing things again – but it’s not quite the time, yet! Anywho, since I literally haven’t been able to think about anything but growing and planting flowers; I thought I would go ahead and answer a common question that seems to pop-up pretty frequently. That question, of course, is: “What are some good flowers to grow for someone who’s never grown any before?” Even though I’ve been growing flowers for awhile now, I still can’t help but want to classify myself as a “beginner” gardener. I have learned so much through the process of trial…

Over the Past Week – Bouquets and More
Hi Lovelies, I honestly don’t know when the last time that I updated the ole’ blog was, but it legitimately feels like it has been way too long! I’ve been busy trying to take dahlia cuttings and generally getting myself together so that I’ll actually be ready when it comes time to plant things. I thought it might be fun, or at least entertaining, to take a look at some of the projects that I got myself into over the past week. Hope you’re having a really great day! 🙂

Using Anemones as Cut Flowers
Hi Lovelies, Seriously, by this time, you’ve got to be getting tired of seeing me take all these pictures of anemone coronaria and rant on and on about how much I love them. That’s what happens when you’re the first flower to bloom in the spring – I’m going to celebrate like nobody’s business. Anyhow, today I’d thought I’d try to ramble on about how I go about picking them for a vase. It’s already late. Of course it is! Did you really think I’d be blogging at a decent hour? Nope. Step one is obvious, make sure are your tools and buckets are clean and ready to go! Anyhow,…

How to Cut Hyacinths to Use as Cut Flowers
Hi Lovelies, I planned on postponing this post for a little while, at least until I was finished editing the YouTube video to go along with it – but as always, I changed my mind. Using Hyacinths as Cut Flowers I have a kind of weird love of hyacinths. I love them because I think they’re totally cute and fragrant. However, I’ll admit that I don’t like the fragrance as much as that of some other flowers. Regardless that I sometimes find them a little overpowering, I think they’re beautiful and worthy of space in the garden. If you do a Google search of “Hyacinth arrangements” you’ll quickly notice that…

Let’s Plant Some Sweet Peas (Lathyrus odoratus)and See What Happens!
Hi Lovelies, First and foremost, let’s be clear, we’re talking ornamental sweet peas (Lathyrus odoratus). NOTÂ edible “sweet” peas,as they are sometimes called by veggie loving gardeners. These, in fact, are toxic. So, don’t eat them. Okay? K, thanx. Sweet peas and I have a complicated relationship. I love them, but any time I think I’ve finally got them figured out, nature throws me a curve ball and the temperamental things just refuse to grow. Last year I planted sweet peas twice. The first batch was direct sown at the end of March and quickly drowned and turned brown in the low spot of my garden. The second planting was made…

Planting Lots of Tulips, because why not?
Hi Lovelies, Day 20 has come a little bit early to the blog, for the main reason that I probably won’t have internet access later tonight when I usually do my 2am writing – I know, I know. Anyway, one of the major tasks that I was able to accomplish today was planting out the single tulips. I like to think about tulips as if they were people, they’re all lovely in their own way. Some people might not like certain types of tulips, but that doesn’t mean that other people aren’t totally in love with them. I feel like I’m getting off topic. Let’s just be real for a…

Beginner’s Guide to a Gorgeous Spring Garden
Hi Lovelies, Well, we made it! Day 15 of Blog-tober! If I had known that 31 days of straight blog posts would be this difficult, I’m not sure I would have taken on the task – but, I’m enjoying it nonetheless. With tons of orders of spring seeds and bulbs landing on my front porch every day, I thought it would be fun to talk about some of the easiest ways to add some spring color to your life. Spring is one of my absolute favorite times of the year. Being able to finally thaw out and spend time outside is such a precious gift. However, when this was all…
