Exciting News! An Update!
Hey everyone! It’s definitely been awhile since I’ve posted here. In the past, I’ve mentioned that I’ve simply outgrown the free version of WordPress and would soon need to upgrade. Well, the good news is that that’s finally happening! Woohoo! You can’t see me, but I’m totally doing a happy dance. Starting next month (likely), I’ll be giving this blog a complete remodel. New banners, new format – new look. In addition to the daily YouTube videos on my channel, I’m hopeful that I’ll be making daily supplemental blog posts here, which will feature additional content not included in the videos. I’m so excited to really focus on this new-ish…

How to Grow Love-in-a-Mist in Zone 6b/7 – Ornamental Cut Flower Gardening
Hi Lovelies, The love-in-a-mist flowers are finishing blooming in the garden, so I thought we’d take a look at my experience growing these unique flowers! NAME: Love-in-a-Mist (Nigella) TOXIC: YES. Always do your research and be responsible any time you add something new to the garden. Be aware of what you’re growing around kids, pets, and everyone else. Many ornamental plants and cut flowers are toxic. Use common sense, always wear gloves, wash hands, don’t touch your eyes or face, etc. Safety first! Before planting, ensure that plants are not considered invasive in your area. HOW: Easy to direct sow. Easy to germinate using the winter sowing method. Broadcasting seed…

An Update!
Hi Lovelies, I’ve been soooo busy. Like, seriously. I’ve had my hands covered in dirt for the past week. So, first off, sorry for skipping out on the comments section for the time being. I’ve planted thousands of plants this week, and made quite a few arrangements. Here are some quick photos from this week! Hope you enjoy, and I hope you’re having a wonderful day!

Winter Sowing Flowers – The Final Results
Hi Lovelies! Well, the results are in. I’m officially done winter sowing for the year, and I’m here to give a somewhat full report on what happened! This post won’t have any pictures, but hopefully, it will be filled with helpful information. If you’re not familiar with winter sowing (I totally suggest you research more about it!), it’s a method of seed starting flowers and vegetables that requires minimal equipment. You can read more about prepping containers by clicking on this sentence! I don’t have access to a “grow room”, greenhouse, or even grow lights. As you can imagine, the idea of starting thousands of seeds is simply not one…

Growing Parrot Tulips
Hi Lovelies, Just thought I would quickly share my experiences growing parrot tulips for the first time this year. Parrot tulips are just as easy to grow as the “normal” tulips that you see growing in people’s front yards, but they definitely look quite unique. This year I planted two different types – salmon and apricot, however, I’ll admit that I’m not sure which is which since I mixed the two bags together. For whatever reason, parrot tulips seem to get varied reviews – some people love them and some people hate them. Here are some photos from around the garden. Hope you’re having an amazing day!

Over the Past Week – Bouquets and More
Hi Lovelies, I honestly don’t know when the last time that I updated the ole’ blog was, but it legitimately feels like it has been way too long! I’ve been busy trying to take dahlia cuttings and generally getting myself together so that I’ll actually be ready when it comes time to plant things. I thought it might be fun, or at least entertaining, to take a look at some of the projects that I got myself into over the past week. Hope you’re having a really great day! 🙂

An Update on a Sunny Day
Hi Lovelies, Well, today looks like it’s going to be one of the last days before the weather turns gross and cold again. It’s sunny, it’s 60F. For whatever reason, I don’t feel like singing songs and wearing shorts yet, though. Anyhow, just wanted to quickly share some captures from the hoophouse and to update everyone on the progress of the winter sowing. Have I mentioned yet that I love winter sowing? LOVE IT. It doesn’t matter that I don’t have money for seed trays. It doesn’t matter that I don’t have money to set up a “proper” propagation area. I’m starting from scratch, and for the first time in…

Garden Planning (The Abridged Version)
Hi Lovelies, I’m so in the mood to plant things! In fact, resisting the urge to plant everything is really difficult. You might think I’m obsessed – I actually probably am. Any how, I wanted to quickly share this video from YouTube here for a couple reasons: There’s a lot going on and I’m honestly not quite sure if I’ll be able to explain the things I want to explain well. I’m going off like 30 minutes of sleep right now and I’m not sure how coherent a post would be. When the “seed germination planting season or whatever” is over and I know how successful I was, I’m going…

February 2016: Week One Update
Hi Lovelies, First and foremost, let me apologize to everyone who left a comment on the last post and I didn’t get a chance to respond. I’ve been having major technical difficulties over here, which I have hopefully resolved. Now that I’ve done a lot of winter sowing, I feel like the season has started – and I’m extremely excited about it. This winter has been a lot sunnier than normal, and I can only hope that the trend continues. My goal at the moment is to write an update at least once a week – but we’ll see how that goes. Honestly, I’m not even sure if anyone actually…

A Post about the Cold and Other Stuff?
Hi Lovelies, It looks like winter is officially here. It’s been colder and I’ve been “babying” the ranunculus in the polytunnel on the extra cold nights. I’ll talk more about that in a second. Things seem to be way busier than they should be right now. But, it’s definitely been “one of those” weeks. Just today, when I was dragging the grocery bags into my house – the neighbors opened their bedroom window and started screaming profanities at me. At first, I didn’t think they were talking to me, why would they be? But, it turns out they were – and why, you may wonder? Well, it was because I…
