  • Propagating Chrysanthemums by Cuttings – Cut Flower Garden

One of the best ways to get the most for your money in the garden is to propagate plants by cuttings. Luckily for cut flower growers, propagating chrysanthemums by cuttings is insanely easy. First, you’ll need to select the cuttings. I like to take cuttings that are nice and tall. This way, I can take several cuttings from the same stem. Remember, make sure that you’re only taking cuttings from plants that don’t have a patent. Once I’ve selected my cutting, I’m simply going to cut the stem into multiple two inch sections. I always like to make the cut just above the leaf node. This will allow the cutting…

  • King’s Mums Chrysanthemum Haul and Review

This post is definitely not really a review, rather, it’s me ranting about how much I love growing chrysanthemums. If you’ve been following the blog for any length of time, you’ll know that I absolutely love these things. After all, they’re tolerant to the cold and remain in bloom long after most of the other flowers have stopped producing. This year, I once again made an order from King’s Mums. King’s is a great supplier of cuttings for larger florist mums that make absolutely stunning cut flowers. As always, the cuttings were bright green and healthy. I’ve never been disappointed. After unpacking the box, I grabbed some plastic cups and…

In most cases, I’ll make a bulb or plant order while I’m deep in the depths of the cold winter. There’s usually snow on the ground, and I can quickly be swept up in a brightly colored flower daydream. One of the late purchases that I made this year was from King’s Mums. King’s mums specializes in some of the most beautiful heirloom chrysanthemum cuttings that I’ve…

  • Easy Chrysanthemum Cuttings – No Lights, No Greenhouse! Yes!

Hi Lovelies, So, chrysanthemums. I’m not talking about the chrysanthemums that you always see for sale out in front of the grocery store in the fall, I’m talking about those amazingly gorgeous florist mums. To be completely honest, before I started this venture into flower growing – I had no idea that these things even existed. Fast forward to actually attempting to grow them for the first time last year. Chrysanthemum plants are grown from cuttings. I really don’t know the specifics of this, but apparently, the best flowers come from plants with fresh root stock. Don’t quote me on that exactly, but I’m fairly certain I’m repeating what was…
